Two ex-Bafana coaches, incl. Pitso, linked with top job in Egypt

Two former Bafana Bafana coaches, including Pitso Mosimane, are now reportedly the leading candidates to take charge of a top Egyptian club.

Mosimane remains highly sought-after following his departure from United Arab Emirates outfit Al Wahda in November. The three-time CAF Champions League winner has since been linked with a shock return to Egypt just 18 months after parting ways with Al Ahly.

Earlier this month, there were suggestions that Zamalek were considering the South African tactician to be their next manager, but more recent reports are now linking him with Pyramids FC.

According to Al Watan Sport, Mosimane is viewed as a potential replacement for current Pyramids boss Jaime Pacheco, whose job is said to be in danger after a decline in the team's performances.

The club was eliminated from the Egyptian Super Cup semi-finals on Christmas day following an intense penalty shootout, which saw Modern Future progress to the final against Al Ahly 14-13 on penalties.

Although Pyramids remain first on the Egyptian Premier League table, their recent defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League has also added to their woes.

The abovementioned report also claims Mosimane is joined by Carlos Queiroz as Pacheco's potential replacement.

The former Egypt and South Africa national team boss is also currently available to be snapped up, having parted ways Qatar earlier this month, whom he joined in February.

With Queiroz and Mosimane said to be the most prominent candidates for the managerial role, it is said that Pyramids are looking at the possibility of sacking Pacheco during the season break so that a new man will be in charge post the Africa Cup of Nations.
