Brazil are now reportedly at risk of being banned from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Selecao, who have not missed an edition of the global tournament since it was first held in 1930, have been warned of a possible ban from all international competitions if a new president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) is elected in January, according to ESPN.

Earlier this month, a court in the South American country removed former CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues from his role, as well as all those whom he had appointed due to flaws in his election which took place last year.
The Rio de Janeiro court also ruled that the head of Brazil's top sports court, Jose Perdiz, organise an election that would see a new CBF president be elected within 30 working days.
However, with But FIFA forbidding government interference in its member associations, the abovementioned ruling could see Brazil miss out on the next World Cup, with world football's governing body said to have warned that if elections proceed and their calls for postponement are not heard, the CBF may be slapped with a grave suspension.
"FIFA and CONMEBOL would like to strongly emphasise that, until such mission takes place, no decision affecting CBF, including any elections or call for elections, shall be taken. Should this not be respected, FIFA will have no other option but to submit the matter to its relevant decision-making body for consideration and decision, which might also include a suspension," a document to a Brazilian football executive obtained by ESPN and The Associated Press reads.
"For the sake of good order, we would also like to underline that should CBF be eventually suspended by the relevant FIFA body, it would lose all of its membership rights with immediate effect and until the suspension is lifted by FIFA. This would also mean that CBF representative and club teams would no longer be entitled to take part in any international competition while it is suspended."

The document was reportedly sent on Sunday, and is said to have been signed by signed by CONMEBOL deputy secretary-general Monserrat Jimenez Garcia, FIFA's Kenny Jean-Marie and the organisation's chief members' association officer.
