OFFICIAL: Pitso's replacement at last club confirmed

Coach Pitso Mosimane's permanent replacement at his previous job has now been confirmed.

In November 2023, the South African coach parted ways with Al Wahda after just four months in charge.

His stint in the United Arab Emirates lasted just 10 games, of which he won six and lost four.

With Arno Buitenweg having been in interim charge for six games following Mosimane's departure, Al Wahda have now confirmed their new permanent coach.

On Thursday night, the club announced the appointment of Serbian coach Goran Tufegdzic.

A statement by the club on X (formerly Twitter) read: "Al Wahda Football Club Company announces the completion of contracting procedures with Mr. Goran Tufegdzic, to lead the first team.

"The club's board of directors welcomed Goran to Al Wahda Club, wishing him success in meeting the ambitions of the club's leadership and management, and its fans."

With the club now lying sixth on the UAE Pro League table, the Serbian tactician boss will oversee his first game in charge when their season resumes on 16 February.

Tufegdzic has a long track record of managing in the Middle East, having also managed Saudi Pro League side Al- Ettifaq, a team now led by Steven Gerrard, among many other sides in the Gulf region.
