The Nigerian national team's money issues have now reportedly taken a new turn as the side prepares for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
After going through what is believed to have been financial struggles, Super Eagles boss Jose Peseiro and other members of the national side have been compensated after a long wait, according to the Paradise News.

The outlet further reported that Nigerian President Bola Tinubu released a sum of N12 billion (R246 million) to the Ministry of Sports Development to cover the outstanding payments owed to the various teams including the Super Falcons as well as the U-20 side, the Flying Eagles, among others.
"The senior team national coach has not been paid for 15 months, the salary is about $1.3 million (R24 million)," said the country's Sports Minister, Senator John Enoh
"The senior national team and other national teams; female, under 20 had a backlog of unpaid allowances, unpaid promises, and all of that piling up close to about .
"The President has approved all of that payment. There's no better way to show support and leadership than what he (Tinubu) has done."
This comes as the Super Eagles prepare for their AFCON campaign which kicks off on 13 January. The side were drawn in Group A alongside tournament hosts Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.

With the reported pay-outs and the wealth of attacking talent at its disposal that includes Napoli striker and CAF's 2023 African Player of the Year Victor Osimhen and Bayer Leverkusen talisman Victor Boniface, Nigerians will be hopeful of a positive outcome for their national team.
