Percy Tau addresses Foster, Mothiba's Bafana absence

Striker Percy Tau says he remains confident in Bafana's attacking line despite the absence of fellow strikers Lyle Foster and Lebo Mothiba ahead of the AFCON.

Bafana Bafana's AFCON title ambitions suffered somewhat of a blow with the news that Burnley striker Lyle Foster had asked to be excluded from national team duty as he battles issues around his mental health.

Additionally, Strasbourg striker Lebo Mothiba suffered a knee injury mid-December that effectively rued him out of the continental competition.

Orlando Pirates duo of Zakhele Lepasa and Evidence Makgopa remain Broos' only remaining number nines, with Khanyisa Mayo and Iqraam Rayners surprisingly left out of the final 23-man squad.

Speaking to media at Bafana's camp in Stellenbosch on Monday, Tau insisted that the team has full confidence in the remain attacking force.

"It's sad that we don't have the other players," Tau said.

"But then I think it was decision by the coach and other circumstances that came up. But then look, we are confident with what we have and I'm obviously one of the seniors here.

"I will try and see at training how we can form partnerships with the guys and like I said, the responsibility is not solely on me, I think the guys also have to come to play and I also try and put in good work form self to help the team."
