South African striker moves to Botswana

Botswana soccer giants Township Rollers have beaten Jwaneng Galaxy for the services of South African striker Thabiso Mokenkoane.

The 32-year-old was set to join Galaxy over the past weekend before resurfacing in Gaborone on Tuesday afternoon to sign with Rollers.

Mokenkoane played for Maluti FET College and the University of Pretoria before joining Royal Leopards in Eswatini last season.

The former AmaTuks is touted as the direct replacement of another South Africa striker Sphamandla Sangweni who parted ways with Township Rollers over the weekend.

"That's true. Thabiso has signed for Township Rollers. We finalized the deal on Tuesday.

"I was not aware that Jwaneng Galaxy was also interested in his services.

"We only received an official offer from Township Rollers and hence he signed with them," Mokenkoane's manager Sipho Shaven tells KickOff.

Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Thabo Rakhale and Tshepo 'Skhwana' Matete are currently registered with Township Rollers in Botswana.
