Swallows set for mass player exodus

Moroka Swallows are seemingly set for a mass exodus, with 22 players released ahead of the second half of the season.

The Soweto outfit were unable to fulfil their final two DStv Premiership last month, after revealing there was a dispute between the players and management.

The Dube Birds have since been punished by the Premier Soccer League after being fined R1 million while Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows were awarded walkovers (3-0 wins) for Swallows not honouring the fixtures.

It has now come to light that Swallows held disciplinary proceedings against their own players and according to Soccer Laduma, 22 players have been released with immediate effect.

Some of the players on the list include some first team regulars, including goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi and Bongani Sam and Lantshane Phalane.
