Lorch hits ground running at Sundowns

It hasn't taken long for Mamelodi Sundowns' biggest signing of the January transfer window Thembinkosi Lorch to acclimatise at his new club.

On Wednesday Sundowns played a friendly match at The Ranch Resort with Limpopo club Baroka FC where they tested their new stars.

According to a source, Lorch who recently left Soweto Giants Orlando Pirates for the Premier Soccer League defending champions was very instrumental in the match that lasted 90 minutes.

"Sundowns won 2-1 but Baroka should have capitalized on their chances, they failed to convert six one-on-one chances," A source tells KickOff.

"There was nothing friendly about that match, Sundowns had two clear-cut chances and they capitalised on them.

"Sundowns brought all their first team players since they are in camp here in Limpopo, with the only ones missing being those who are still at the AFCON.

"Sundowns goals were scored by Marcelo Allende and Lucas Ribeiro.

"Thembinkosi Lorch was a marvel to watch, that boy knows how to play football.

"He made an assist, but what killed Baroka the most were the runs that Lorch made.

"He played for only 45 minutes, in the second half both sides fielded different teams.

"And also this new South American midfielder Matias Esquivel, that guy is a problem."
