The end of Bafana Bafana's impressive AFCON campaign has triggered a wave of questions about what should then happen, with the World Cup qualifiers next.
Bafana went all the way to the semi-finals against all odds before being unfortunately knocked out in the semi-finals on penalties.

From having failed to qualify for the previous tournament, Bafana went all the way to the last four and will have a feel-good push for the rest of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
"This Bafana Bafana team was a reflection of what is happening with the most successful club in the country right now which is Mamelodi Sundowns," says Vladislav Heric, who has been coaching in South Africa since January 2005.
"The truth of the matter is that Sundowns assembles all the best players in the country and make them their team.
"If we are to be honest, almost all the best players always end up at Sundowns.
"By doing that, Sundowns are already making the best selections for the national team.
"Hugo Broos being the smart coach that he is, he then called up most of his players from Sundowns.
"That was a spot-on decision.
"Sundowns has a great technical set-up which Rulani explained very well in by adding that they need good human beings to make it work.

"At Sundowns, it is not only about performance but the human being which I salute because that is what brings the synergy.
"Sundowns had already made the pre-selection for Bafana which is beautiful.
"If Broos had picked up players from every club, then this tournament could have been a disaster.
"Bafana went out because they were just unlucky against the weakest of the three teams that they have played in the knockout stages.
"The only issue is that we showed them too much respect.
"The next step is to keep this group of players together because they play together and know each other well.

"This Bafana team is headed in the right direction, so let it be kept going that way instead of tampering with it.
"From the experience gained from this AFCON, Bafana can now goo on to the World Cup.

"I believe the coach should continue with the same players for the rest of the World Cup qualifiers and make it through to the finals.
"The structure is already there, and the next target is getting to the World Cup," says Heric.
