"Today the Executive Committee of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) notified the members of the Indomitable Lions staff of the end of their contract to manage Cameroon's Senior Men's National Team.
"FECAFOOT took this opportunity to thank Mr Rigobert SONG BAHANAG and his assistants for their dedication to the service of the nation during the two years they have been in charge.
"In the next few days, the details of the recruitment process for a new Indomitable Lions coaching staff will be announced," it read in a statement.
Song was appointed coach in 2021 ahead of the then AFCON finals on home soil – replacing Toni Conceicao who was also axed for a run of indifferent results in key AFCON and FIFA World Cup qualifiers amongst others.
Under the legendary Song, the Indomitable Lions did qualify for the last World Cup in Qatar but failed to get out of the group stage and was involved in last month's AFCON in the Ivory Coast where they lost in the last 16 to eventual runners-up Nigeria.
The decision to part with the country's legendary figure who won the Afcon twice as captain of the team was announced by FA president Samuel Eto'o.
Song enjoyed no fewer than 23 matches in charge of the Indomitable Lions, claiming six wins, eight draws and nine defeats in the process.
