Footballers sometimes show a a different side of themselves when they are away from the action. This seems to be the case for a player who is in a relegation scrap after once being targeted by by the likes of Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.
After reports suggesting that Amakhosi were interested in signing Cape Town Spurs striker Ashley Cupido, the player began to be linked with a move to the Buccaneers during December last year.

Evidently, nothing materialised and the 22-year-old forward now finds himself in a relegation battle as the Urban Warriors look to pull off a miraculous comeback after winning their two last matches on the bounce. Last month, they managed a 3-1 victory against AmaZulu with the other three points coming in a 2-0 win against TS Galaxy.
Cupido scored a double against Amaqhawe and found the back of the net once against TS Galaxy to make it three goals in two. As things stand, Spurs are still bottom of the table but are just two points away from Richards Bay who are in 15th position. For Cupido and the rest of the Urban Warriors, things seem to be on the up.
Off the field, however, the attacker has been on the up, taking to social media to share special moments, special people to him, as well as fashion and modelling prowess. While it may seem irrelevant to mention fashion and football in the same breath, the connection between the two is much stronger than one might at first think.
Both fashion and football are arenas where individuality and identity are prominently displayed. Just as a football player's style of play reflects their unique talents and personality, so too does a person's choice of attire serve as a canvas for self-expression. Both worlds have become an important part of culture in the societies we occupy, as both fields can be used to as platforms that spark change in other facets of life.
It's a relationship that is evolving and becoming more and more closely related to one another. These days, one can see footballers attending fashion shows and modelling various brands and even becoming brand ambassadors for the world's largest and most renowned clothing companies in a relationship that benefits the companies as well as them as individuals.
It seems as though Cupido is treading this very path. He did his part in uniting fashion and football in the City of Cape Town by modelling clothing at Y?GEN APPAREL, a brand owned by Capetonian rapper Youngsta CPT. He donned an outfit that, much like the Mother City, is colourful and vibrant.
The radiant outfit was designed by Vecchio (previously known as Laurus Sport), a footballing brand in South Africa. What's special about the outfit that the CT Spurs attacker models is that it was designed in collaboration with Y?GEN, symbolising the uniting of the two worlds. Not only that, it is sporting attire that can be worn by people who aren't even necessarily involved with any sports, making it a bridge between the two worlds.
