Al Ahly clinched the Egypt Cup after scoring two late goals to secure a 2-0 win over rivals Zamalek on Friday evening.
Bafana Bafana international Percy Tau got a start for Ahly -having missed a few games recently but first-choice goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy were still out on the side-lines through injury.
Zamalek had the first chance past ten minutes through a surging run by Zizo following a turnover, but Mostafa Mohamed Shobeir dived across and steered for a corner.
Hussein El Shahat, who bagged the winner last Friday against Young Africans in the CAF Champions League, could've added another from an effort in the area after Tau's cutback but went wide.
Shobeir was up to ask again on the stroke halftime when he fluffed a curling shot from a tight angle by Zizo away and maintained parity between the two.
Egyptian veteran Shikabala came on at the break for the White Knights and saw Ahmed Sayed removed, whilst Ahly unleashed no substitutions.
Former Ahly star Abdallah El Said caused a lot of problems in the early minutes of the half when he made the trademark runs out wide and towards the box.
As a trio of changes showed from Ahly in Marwan Attia, Omar Kamal and Mohamed Mgady Afsha, the White Knights still remained resolute on all fronts.
However, Ahly went ahead in the last eight minutes when Emam Ashour finished off Afsha's square pass where a lengthy review awarded it and overturned the on-field decision of an offside.
The tie ended deep in added time as Afsha combined with Ashour's loose following a fast break and finished calmly into the bottom-corner.
Ahly thus emerged victorious to land another piece of silverware to their cabinet, whilst left their rivals totally shattered.
