Manchester City defeated Newcastle United 2-0 to progress to the semi-finals of the FA Cup on Saturday evening.
The stars of the previous round against Luton Town in Erling Haaland and Bernardo Silva led the Citizens attack, while Anthony Gordon, Jamaal Lascelles and Jacob Murphy picked out the Magpies side.
Silva continued where he left off in the against Luton after the opening ten minutes when he got on the end of Rodri Hernandez's pass to send a looping shot over Martin Dubravka.
Norwegian Haaland looked to get one in too minutes later from a give-and-go with Mateo Kovacic around the area, but Dubravka rushed out to smother the danger.
Silva on the other hand didn't let up and grabbed a brace past the half-hour mark where he came in from the right-side to cut-inside to found the bottom-corner.
Newcastle were utterly on the back-foot, leaving the Citizens to a succession of chances before a rasping header by Ruben Dias from Haaland's knockdown drew a save from Dubravka.
The Magpies still battled to hold their own a little inside the second period, as the Citizens attempted a second with a low strike across goal from Jeremy Doku following a one-two, but he went wide.
Yet another chance came when Silva recovered possession to play in a cross for Josko Gvardiol to go in on the volley, but Lascelles deflected away.
City, who were in cruise control at this point, decided to freshen up their line-up in the last 20 minutes and saw Doku removed for Oscar Bobb to come on.
The host comfortably managed to run down the final stages of the contest to grab the win and a spot in the semi-finals too.
