Decorated Pitso Mosimane is set to receive an honorary Doctor of Philosophy courtesy of the University of Johannesburg (UJ) for his outstanding contribution to African football both as a player and a coach.
In a newsletter published by the university, it was announced that Mosimane was among just four other candidates set to to be bestowed honorary doctoral degrees at the graduation ceremony scheduled for July 2024.

The other names on the list include Thebe Ikalafeng, Nonkululeko Gobodo, Professor Raphael Kaplinsky and Professor Huang Wei.

As a player, 'Jingles' had spells with Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and Jomo Cosmos. He also enjoyed spells in Greece and Qatar before his retirement. He would later take up coaching.
As far as South African coaches go, Mosimane is as accomplished as they come. The former SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns coach already and eleven trophies under his belt as Sundowns coach when he left the Brazilians to coach uncharted territory in Egypt with Al Ahly.

Mosimane enjoyed more success with the African Club of the Century, winning the covered CAF Champions League trophy twice and the Super Cup, certifying his name as not only on of the greatest South African coaches, but one of the greatest on the African continent.
Currently Mosimane is on a four month deal with Saudi Arabia side Abha Club.
