Top marks for Ngezana as he moves towards title

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Siyabonga Ngezana is ticking all the important boxes in his first season playing in Europe.

Ngezana is now on the books of Romanian giants FCSB, with whom he has the league title in sight.

On Sunday night, he made his 27th appearance of the season, putting in yet another full shift in a 2-0 win over Universitatea Craiova after having been forced out by injury the previous week away at Farul Constanta.

It was the third victory in a row for FCSB in the Championship Play-Offs.

With the latest win, the 1986 European champions are now on 41 points and have opened a 10-point lead over CFR Cluj in second position.

There are seven games remaining, with FCSB needing 12 points for now to wrap up the title.

Ngezana had an injury concern the previous week, which forced him out after the hour mark but was able to return to training during the week and then go on to play on Sunday.   

FCSB play away at CFR Cluj next Sunday.

With a league title triumph, FCSB will progress to the UEFA Champions League, starting their campaign in that continental competition in the qualifying rounds.

Ngezana never won silverware throughout the seven years that he spent in the first team at Chiefs.
