Rulani Mokwena has been nominated for a regional award just months after completing his first calendar year in sole charge at Mamelodi Sundowns.
Mokwena has been selected as one of three candidates for the Men's Coach of the Year at the inaugural COSAFA Awards.

According to the regional football body, the winner will be announced in Durban on April 19.
The period under review for the nominations is January 1 to December 31, 2023.
Mokwena won the DStv Premiership and the inaugural African Football League, while he lost in the MTN8 final, during that time.
He also led Sundowns to the semifinals of the CAF Champions League.
Through the year 2023, Mokwena only lost thrice.
The other two defeats, against Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 final and the Carling Knockout, were on penalties.
Also nominated is Morena Ramoreboli, who is in charge of Jwaneng Galaxy in Botswana.

Ramoreboli won the league and guided his club to the CAF Champions Leaue group stage.
Namibia coach Collin Benjamin is the third nominee.
Other South African nominees in other categories are Desiree Ellis (Banyana Banyana) and Jerry Tshabalala (Mamelodi Sundowns) in the Women's Coach of the Year award.
Ronwen Williams is in the Goalkeeper of the Year category, while there are also nominations for Andile Dlamini and Kaylin Swart (Women's Goalkeeper of the Year), as well as Thapelo Maseko (Men's Most Promising Player).
