Sundowns backed in 'Invincibles' endeavour

Sergio Dos Santos backs runaway log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns to finish their league games without a loss this season.

With only 10 matches remaining the defending champions are yet to taste defeat in the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season.

Amongst others, they still have to face Moroka Swallows [Away], Sekhukhune United [Home], Kaizer Chiefs [Away], Royal AM [Away], Royal AM [Home], Stellenbosch FC [Away], and Cape Town City at home.

"They certainly can finish the league campaign without a loss, but it will get a lot tougher as they get to later stages, of the league," Santos tells KickOff.

"Yes they've got the Champions League, and they are still in the Nedbank Cup, but they also have the size and a squad to do it.

"They've shown throughout the year that they can rotate their team, so certainly they can finish the season without having lost a match.

"And once it's achieved you got to give Patrice Motsepe accolade for it because he's put his money where his mouth is.

"The reason the likes of Al Ahly are so big today in Africa, it's because they did the same.

"Motsepe wanted Sundowns to be African champions, and already, if you look at the other teams in Africa at the moment, Sundowns is the number 1.

"So the other teams in South Africa, if they want to be like Sundowns, they have to buy the right players.

"Kaizer Chiefs are spending a lot of money, but they are not buying the right players.

"The problem with Kaizer Chiefs is they are signing a lot of young players, but with not enough experience with leadership qualities.

"When Arsene Wenger was in charge Arsenal won the league in England without having tasted defeat, was it good for their league? Of course, it was.

"So the teams in South Africa must stop crying and work harder."
