Al Ahly coach: Our players are human not machines

Al Ahly coach Marcel Koller has bemoaned their heavy fixture list as he deals with injuries and fatigue.

The Red Devils were in Egyptian Premier League action Thursday after defeating ZED FC 1-0, but they return to action on Monday against rivals Zamalek.

The reigning African champions are already without a number of players at the moment due to injuries, with Koller claiming all the players are pushing themselves.

"We're struggling with a significant number of injuries to key players due to the relentless schedule," Koller said, as per Ahram Online.

"Our national team players haven't had a proper rest in three weeks, and it's taking its toll on the squad."

"Our players are human not machines. The pressure leads to mental and physical fatigue, but I'm proud of their performance.

"They pushed themselves despite their exhaustion, and everyone is giving their all."

Koller also made a call to the Al Ahly supporters ahead of Monday's game against their arch-rivals.

"I want them to celebrate the win today and Eid Al-Fitr. I eagerly await their presence and unwavering support in the upcoming Cairo derby against Zamalek. They are our support force and the 12th player, always standing firmly behind us."
