PSL star that is faster than EPL big names

A DStv Premiership star has achieved an incredible feat which rivals that of top players from the English Premier League.

Ashley Cupido scored a double when Cape Town Spur took on Amazulu at Athlone Stadium, helping his side to a 3-1 and some much-needed three points in February this year. It was one of just three victories in 23 games so far this season for the Urban Warriors.

Cupido netted his first in the 56th minute and his second in the 84th. In the build up to the first goal, the 22-year-old unwittingly achieved something incredible.

While running from his side's defensive third to the opposition box to capitalise on a counter-attacking scenario, Cupido — according to Mike Morton Talks Football — clocked a sprinting speed of a whopping 37 km/h which, to give some context, is quicker than Gareth Bale who once recorded a speed of 34.7km/h according to Feed Me Goal

The current fastest player in England's top-flight is Tottenham Hotspur's Micky van de Wen who recorded an astonishing speed of 37.38km/h. Following closely behind the Dutchman is Luton Town's Chiedozie Ogbene who clocked in at 36.93km/h.

Given their numbers and the speeds Cupido achieved as he dashed towards the opposing penalty area to put himself in a goal-scoring position, his pace would terrify defenders in the EPL and perhaps all across the globe.

@mikemortontalksfootball Fastest player in the PSL?! Ashley Cupido records an incredible 37km/h in a game against Amazulu. Which would put him second behing Micky Van de Ven in the #englishpremierleague Sven Botman recorded an incredible top speed of 39km/h recently dor Newcastle. Is there anyone else who can top that?? #greenscreen #southafrica #soccer #psl #ashleycupido #svenbotman #CapCut ? original sound - Mike Morton Talks Football

The attacker's blistering pace would not, however, come as a surprise to those who have previously seen him in action as he once also recorded a speed of 36.96km/h.
