EPL boss: Bafana striker was touch and go, but...

With Lyle Foster having hobbled off the pitch during Burnley's clash against Sheffield United this past weekend, manager Vincent Kompany has now offered an update on the South Africa international.

Foster was back among the goals on Saturday, when Burnley claimed a 4-1 Premier League win over fellow relegation strugglers Sheffield at Bramall Lane.

The 23-year-old scored the third goal for his side with a cool finish from inside the box to end his goal drought, having last previously scored in December 2023, against Aston Villa.

However, in the 83rd minute of that match, Foster went down and needed treatment from medical staff.

His manager withdrew him from the action after the incident, replacing him with Chelsea loanee David Datro Fofana up front.

However, having been asked about the former Orlando Pirates star's potential injury, Kompany has confirmed that Foster is fine.

"No, I think they're all fine. I haven't had any emergency reports," the Belgian tactician said, according to the Burnley Express.

"Lyle had a difficult lead in to the game, so he was touch and go anyway before the game.

"After the performance, after the goal, it was sensible to give another striker a run."

Foster, who missed five matches for his club earlier this season due to mental health issues, now has five goals and three assists in 20 Premier League appearances this term.

Burnley, meanwhile, are three points away from safety with four games remaining.
