Pule’s troubles at Pirates

Orlando Pirates winger Vincent Pule will have concerns and questions to answer about the contribution that he has made in his sixth season at the club.

Pule has found himself battling for minutes this season with the emergence of Relebohile Mofokeng and Patrick Maswanganyi.

This has led to the 32-year-old managing only 10 appearances to date through managing his fitness.

The Free State born left footballer has not only failed to score this season but also hasn't played 90 minutes in any of his appearances.

Worse is that the 32-year-old has only played 47 minutes this year and has missed nine games since the turn of the New Year.

While he is covered by a contract that will run until June 2025 with an option of another year there is reason to be concerned for him.

If ever Pule is going to earn another contract – even if not at Pirates - he needs to be playing regular football and that is the direction for him next season.

The Soweto giants will make the call on whether he will go on loan in the new season or he will choose to remain at the club and seek a way back to the field.

Pule started out at Pirates with a bang after joining from Pirates and scored 21 goals in his first three seasons but has had dropping fortunes in the last three.
