Forgotten Bafana star mesmerised by new influencer girlfriend

Although somewhat of a forgotten star to South African audiences, former Bafana Bafana striker Lars Veldwijk is living quite a life with his relatively new girlfriend, who is a prominent influencer in Europe. 

The story

It has been a tumultuous year for the 32-year-old star, as he he went from banging in goals for South Korea for Suwon FC to having his contract terminated by the club after being found drunk-driving.

That was followed by four months on the sidelines before the Dutch-born centre-forward signed a short-term deal in February with Spanish third-tier side Castellon, which is set to last until 1 June 2024.

Back in the Netherlands, where he was born and raised by his father by his Gauteng-born dad  Harry Veldwijk , the marksman has been making the gossip headlines thanks to his publicised relationship with influencer Romy D'Fonseca.

The pair are believed to have begun dating back in December 2023 while the player was a free agent. The two confirmed their relationship via social media posts, where they were often seen snuggling each other. 

D'Fonseca has quite the prominence in the limelight back in Holland, with 108k followers on Instagram and nearly 30k on TikTok. 

Veldwijk's dating history has all been in the public eye, as Cosmopolitan Netherlands reveals that he previously dated socialite Monica Geuze for quite a number of years before separating in 2019 and the pair have a daughter named Zara-Lizzy.

Prior to that relationship, the publication states that the seven-capped Bafana star was seeing another famous lady in Holland Kelly Loef and the they had a son named Mason. 

Nevertheless, Veldwijk looks quite happy with his new girlfriend D'Fonseca, as the player is often seen doing romantic dates with his lover.
