New coach, new lease on life for Chiefs' forgotten man?

With a change of technical personnel expected at Kaizer Chiefs in the coming upcoming season, at least one out-of-favour star's future with the Soweto giants could be handed a lifeline.

Tebogo Potsane was signed at the start of the season from Royal AM and, despite enjoying a great start to life at Naturena, he has struggled to make an impression, leaving his future under scrutiny.

The 30-year-old started three of the first five matches and contributed two assists in the same period under then-head coach Molefi Ntseki.

Potsane also started every match in Chiefs' MTN8 campaign that ended in the semi-final stage after a defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Since then though, the winger's time on the pitch has gradually faded, relegating him to almost a forgotten figure in the Amakhosi line-up.

Potsane's last appearance for the side came in December during a 1-1 draw against Sekhukhune United, where the midfielder made a 14-minute cameo.

Prior to that, Potsane had played just one match in the Chiefs' previous 10 matches – a 24-minute appearance.

Since then, he has not made the match-day squad for the team and Amakhosi has not communicated any updates on a possible injury, raising questions about the winger's future.

Much like Pule Mmodi, Postane was signed by the club as a key addition for the current season, with the expectation to hit the ground running.

But sitting on the wrong side of 30 and with a with deal only set to expire in July 2026, Chiefs may be tempted to cash in while they can on the winger.

That will all depend on how the next coach assesses the winger, though, and although Potsane's time at Naturena looks to be up, a change of personnel may present a new lifeline for the Bloemfontein-born winger.
