Man Utd 'eyeing' big swoop for ex-Man City star

Erik ten Hag's Manchester United are now reportedly eyeing up a big swoop for a star who previously played for bitter rivals Manchester City.

The Red Devils are reportedly taking a new approach to signing players, which will see them target footballers who are either free agents or are in the last year of their contracts, and Fulham star Tosin Adarabioyo is believed to fit the bill.

According to The Times, the defender's contract is set to expire at the end of June, with the 26-year-old said to have rejected the chance to extend his stay at Craven Cottage in order to pursue a new challenge.

The centre-back has made 25 appearances for Fulham across all competitions so far this season while chipping in with two goals, and was also part of the Cottagers side that recorded a 2-1 victory over the Red Devils in a Premier League encounter in February.

It has been suggested, though, that the Old Trafford club will face competition from other EPL sides for his signature including Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Chelsea.

United's reported interest in the City youth product comes after news suggesting that they are set to offload an array of defenders at the end of this season.

Jonny Evans and Raphael Varane are believed to both be departing the side at the end of the season when their contracts expire, while Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof's futures at the Theatre of Dreams remain in doubt.

Erik ten Hag has also faced a variety of defensive issues over the course of the current campaign, having had to deal with constant injuries in the backline.

Adarabioyo, meanwhile, has missed only five matches since returning from a groin surgery in November last year.
