'Tau is capable of posing a threat in the CAFCL final'

A former CAF Champions League star has highlighted Percy Tau as a major threat when Esperance Sportive de Tunis take on Al Ahly in this year's final of the continental competition.

The Red Devils will face the Tunisian giants in a two-legged battle that will determine who will be crowned the best team in Africa, with the first leg set to be played on Saturday night and the second scheduled for Saturday, 25 May.

While Esperance will be excited about the prospect of potentially winning their fifth CAFCL title, former defender and one-time winner of the tournament Mohamed Ben Mansour has highlighted what, or rather who, stands in their way.

The 35-year-old pointed out South African attacker Tau and two of his teammates as players likely to cause Miguel Cardoso's side some big problems during the encounter.

"Despite this change in the ranks of Esperance, Al Ahly has distinguished players capable of posing a threat to Esperance's defence, such as Hussein El Shahat, Percy Tau, and Ali Maaloul."

Mansour did, however, also praise Cardoso's ability to alter games tactically.

"Miguel Cardoso, the coach of the Tunisian team, succeeded in changing the team's playing style in a short time because of his technical excellence, which enables him to change the team's tactical appearance one more time in the match."

The ex-defender went on to state that his former side can also be a threat going forward, mentioning the star, Yan Sasse, who scored against Mamelodi Sundowns during the semi-final stage of the competition.

"Esperance, on the other hand, has a large number of distinguished players, such as the Brazilian duo Rodrigo Rodrigues and Yan Sasse, in addition to Ghaylene Chaalali."
