Al Ahly stance on Tau-Chiefs links 'revealed'

Following reports linking Percy Tau with DStv Premiership side Kaizer Chiefs, his club Al Ahly's stance on the matter is now said to have been revealed.

The South African club has made contact with the Red Devils to enquire about the player's availability, according to Egyptian journalist Mohamed Shabana, per Aiwa Egypt.

Despite Chiefs' suggested interest in the former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker, however, Shabana also stated that their advances were immediately rejected by Ahly's planning committee.

While question marks continue to surround Tau's future at the Cairo club, with his current deal believed to be set to expire at the end of next season, it is said the Egyptian giants' executives have ruled out the player's departure at this time.

He went on to add that there has also been approaches for defender Mohamed Abdelmonem by Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco and Turkish side Galatasaray.

Although it has been claimed Ahly are willing to let the 25-year-old go, they have slapped a price tag of €7 million (R137 million) on the centre-back.

The Club of the Century, meanwhile, will need all hands on deck as they look to conclude their season on a good note.

The Marcel Koller-led side's most immediate challenge will be to face Esperance Sportive de Tunis in the second leg of the CAF Champions League final, after the first ended in a goalless draw.

Following that match, Tau was criticised by former Ahly star Amr Anwar, who stated that the Bafana Bafana forward did not perform well "due to extreme slowness".

The two giants will clash once more on Saturday in an encounter that will determine who will be crowned this season's champions of the continent.
