Relegation escape joy for ex-Chiefs defender

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Teenage Hadebe was a starter as Konyaspor stayed afloat in the Turkish Super Lig on the last day of the season, with their opponents on the day lifting the title.

Galatasaray came out 3-1 winners on the day to secure the league title, while Konyaspor got the last survival spot.

Hadebe was in the starting XI but was then withdrawn at half-time in what was his 12th appearance since joining the club in February on a short-term deal.

With Galatasaray the opponents on the day, interest at the Konya Metropolitan Stadium was beyond the usual levels.

For Hadebe, he has missed just a single match (serving four yellow cards suspension) since making his debut but will need a new contract to stay on at the club next season.
