By far the busiest PSL side since the final whistle of the 2023/24 season went, Cape Town City have now announced the departure of five players from their ranks.
Having achieved a fifth-placed finish in a campaign marked by inconsistency, it is clear that Cape Town City are out to challenge for trophies next term.

The club has already secured the signature of Sibusiso Ziba from JDR Stars, a story broken by this publication a month ago, while Namibian international Prins Tjiueza has been brought in having had his move to the Mother City delayed due to injury earlier this year.
Furthermore, the Citizens have been linked with the signature of Haashim Domingo, who endured a frustrating spell at Raja Casablanca after signing amid much fanfare from Mamelodi Sundowns at the beginning of the Botola Pro League.
As if that was not enough, chairman John Comitis is reported to be in the final stages of sealing a deal that will see Fortune Makaringe join the club, with the midfielder having just left Orlando Pirates after four seasons there.
Now, the latest news coming from the Citizens camp is that a total of five players have left and are free to join teams of their choice ahead of next season.
The players are Thabiso Kutumela, Jo Paciencia, Relebogile Mokhuoane, Bongani Mpandle and Khanya Leshabela, as confirmed by the club on their official social media pages.
Perhaps the most shocking of these departures is that of Leshabela, who came highly recommended having turned out for Leicester City in England.
However, he seemed to struggle to adjust to his new environment, starting a mere three league games and coming on as a substitute five times in the DStv Premiership, with another sub appearance in the Nedbank Cup Last 32 against SuperSport United.

Kutumela, too, is a bit of a surprise inclusion considering the weight of his name and his history of having been on the books of Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
He started a decent 17 league games this past season though, but will now have to contend with searching for a new club.
