In a shock turn of events, Cape Town Spurs have announced the return of Ernst Middendorp as head coach, just days after announcing his exit.
On Monday, 3 June, Spurs confirmed that head coach Middendorp had parted ways with the Urban Warriors on mutual agreement.
Club CEO Alexi Efstathiou also explained that the German had been open to staying on board, but due to financial constraints particularly in the National First Division, a decision had been made to part ways.
"Unfortunately, due to the restrictive financial environment of the NFD, the club was unable to extend the relationship," stated Efstathiou.
"There is nothing sinister in the decision as the coach clearly indicated that he was willing to stay on and assist the team in getting promoted back to the PSL,"

In a fresh twist, Spurs announced that that Middendorp has been reappointed and will be at the helm at the Warriors' bid to reclaim a top-flight status in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
"When I returned to Cape Town yesterday, I received a call from the directors to meet up for breakfast. We were able to carve a way through the obstacles that were originally there," the former Kaizer Chiefs coach explained via a club statement.
"I am happy to say that we can now continue from where we left off and deliver, together with the board, the club that we all envisage to see one day attaining its rightful place in SA (South African) football.
Spurs' next task will be to keep hold of their talent, with several DStv Premiership clubs set to raid the Cape Town squad, and players themselves looking to stay in the top flight.
