Sir Alex's choice for next Man Utd boss 'revealed'

Legendary Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly pressing for a certain manager to replace Erik ten Hag at the club's helm.

The saga over who will be United's manager next season looks set to go on for the foreseeable future, with the club yet to make their findings of their end of 2023/24 season review public.

As such, Ten Hag remains in charge, although his future looks far from certain following an underwhelming Premier League campaign in which the Red Devils finished eighth.

A number of managers have since been linked with the job, with former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel said to have recently turned down the role in favour of a break from coaching following a difficult spell at Bayern Munich.

However, it is now being reported that the EPL club's greatest-ever coach, Ferguson, would like to see another ex-Blues tactician being appointed by the Red Devils.

According to journalist Graeme Bailey, Ferguson is pressing to have Mauricio Pochettino as the next man in charge at the Theatre of Dreams.

It is further claimed that Ten Hag is aware that the club has held negotiations with other coaches, but his stance remains to stay for a third season after winning the Carabao Cup and FA Cup in his first two terms in charge of the team.

Former Brighton Hove Albion head coach Roberto De Zerbi and England boss Gareth Southgate are also among the names reportedly being considered at the moment, with some members of United's hierarchy said to be more keen on the potential appointment of the latter.
