Nabi to be minus technical mastermind at Chiefs

Nasreddine Nabi's imminent arrival at Kaizer Chiefs will happen without a staffer who was key throughout the success that he enjoyed during his time in Tanzania.

Nabi has a proposal to take over as head coach at Chiefs after the club revisited their interest in his services a year after initially opening talks.

It was this time last year that Chiefs got negotiations underway after his departure from Young Africans, but an agreement couldn't be reached on matters relating to the structure of the technical team.

The Tunisian-Belgian then took up a job at FAR Rabat (ASFAR), where he lost the league on the final day after leading the standings for the greater part of the season.

His next silverware hunt is in the Throne Cup with FAR Rabat playing Maghreb Fes in the semi-finals on Sunday.

It is expected that Nabi will then leave Morocco after the completion of the cup which has Raja Casablanca and Mouloudia Oujda in the other semi-final.

In his expected move to Chiefs, where he will become the fifth consecutive off-season appointment, Nabi will do so minus Cedric Kaze.

Kaze worked as assistant coach-cum-technical director at Yanga during Nabi's time at the club, where they won six trophies in two years.

The Burundian holds a CAF A coaching licence and a German Football Federation A coaching licence and did his attachments in German and France before working with Barcelona's U19 and reserve team (U21).

Throughout his time at Yanga, Kaze also worked as head coach and then assistant to Nabi, who wanted him as his assistant when he spoke to Chiefs last year.

When Nabi moved to Morocco, Kaze had taken over at Namungo FC in the Tanzanian Premier League.

Kaze has since left that job and moved back to Canada, where his family resides.

He will spend two continuous years in the North American country to enable matters relating to his citizenship to go through, which means he will not be joining Nabi.

This website has been told by several contacts about the important technical role Kaze played in Tanzania, where he was also conversant in the local Swahili language.

Nabi will come with Khalil Ben Youssef as his assistant, IIyes Mzoughi as goalkeeper coach, with another two members of his choice to be added in a fitness trainer and analyst.
