France chief makes big Mbappe admission after broken nose

A French FA chief has made a big admission about Kylian Mbappe's stay at the 2024 UEFA European Championship after the star broke his nose on Monday.

The 25-year-old was forced to leave the pitch and was taken to hospital after colliding with defender Kevin Danso during an aerial challenge in Les Bleus' 1-0 win over Austria.

It was later confirmed that the Real Madrid star had broken his nose as a result of the collision.

The French Football Federation (FFF) later confirmed that no surgery would take place and that the captain would wear a mask as they look to get the player back on the field as soon as possible.

While Mbappe continues to undergo treatment amid speculation he may only return for the knockout stage of the showpiece, FFF president Philippe Diallo has admitted they are not sure whether or not the talisman will be able to compete in the rest of the tournament.

"The first responses were quite positive as there is no surgery planned for the moment," he said at a press conference, per BreakingNews.ie

"Now, it is too soon to know if he will be able to play for the remainder of the tournament, or to provide a schedule for his situation.

"Obviously there were some medical examinations performed on site to know more about Kylian Mbappe's nose and they made some conclusions pretty quickly.

"They tried to reduce the aftermath of his fracture, for him to be able to remain in the tournament.

"As I said, there is no surgery planned for the moment and we are still waiting for things to evolve later in order to know more about the conditions of his participation in the remainder of the tournament."
