Shock overseas club 'makes offer' for Tau

A shock overseas club has now reportedly submitted an offer to sign Al Ahly and South Africa star Percy Tau.

Tau's future remains the subject of increasing speculation, with the 30-year-old now approaching the final 12 months of his contract in Cairo.

In recent weeks, the Bafana Bafana star has been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs, but other reports have suggested he would prefer a move back to Europe if he were to leave Al Ahly.

The Red Devils hierarchy are understood to be keen to keep Tau and extend his stay with them, but that has not deterred potential suitors from pursuing the former Brighton Hove Albion attacker.

According to FilGoal, newly promoted Saudi Pro League side Al Kholood Club have made an offer to Tau over a potential transfer.

A source from Al Ahly told the Arabic publication that the Egyptian giants were also working on renewing the forward's contract.

"We do not know anything about what is being discussed in the media in South Africa regarding Kaizer Chiefs' negotiations with Percy Tau," the source said.

"For us, we are still committed to the player and want him to continue, and there are negotiations with him for renewal."

Al Kholood are one of the three clubs who secured promotion from the Saudi second tier in 2023/24, along with Al Qadsiah FC and Al Orobah.
