Dolly's camp opens up on Chiefs decision

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Keagan Dolly's camp has opened up on reports that their client will not be retained at the club going into next season.

With pre-season preparations coinciding with a new dawn at Chiefs, Dolly was among players whose contracts are expiring at the end of the month.

Amakhosi players are understood to have reported back to the Village for pre-season formalities on Monday, where the former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder was reportedly among the absentees.

The Soweto giants, who are expected to announce a new technical team led by Nasreddine Nabi and Fernando Da Cruz, who has already started working, have seemingly rested the futures of their players who were out of contract on the new coaching staff.

This, after SABC Sport reported that the likes of Dolly, Sifiso Hlanti and Siyethemba Sithebe were informed during a meeting on Monday that they would not be retained following the expiry of their contracts.

Dolly has been a marquee and key player for the Glamour Boys since joining as a free agent from Montpellier in 2021 on a three-year contract.

The 31-year-old had chances of staying at Chiefs with the club having a two-year option on his current deal, which they announced during his unveiling. His exit from Amakhosi, therefore, came as somewhat of a surprise.

A representative from SSG confirmed to KickOff that Dolly would be wearing different colours next season.

"Yes, he has parted ways with Kaizer Chiefs, which we knew. We're currently looking at something. Once it gets nearer, we'll be able to let you know," the representative, who chose to remain anonymous, said.

"But I can confirm that yes, it is true that he has parted ways with Kaizer Chiefs."
