The Bavarians could look to offload the Dutch defender in the coming weeks, with the club having already signed Hiroki Ito while they are reportedly keen on Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah.
Romano added that De Ligt is open to reuniting with Ten Hag at Old Trafford even though the club won't be competing in the UEFA Champions League next season.
De Ligt played under Ten Hag at Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam before he made the big switch to Juventus in 2019.
The Red Devils have also been linked with England defender Jarrad Braithwaite, but Everton's reported asking fee could be a problem.
