Ramoreboli's demands to Sekhukhune revealed?

More details on why Jwaneng Galaxy head coach Morena Ramoreboli decided against joining Sekhukhune United have emerged.

The Sekhukhune head coach post has been vacant since they suspended erstwhile mentor Lehlohonolo Seema and subsequently relieved him of his duties.

The Babina Noko project is seemingly one of the most sought after currently in the PSL, after the Limpopo side broadened the scope of their coaching search, which included the shortlist of the likes of Steve Komphela and Gavin Hunt, who eventually signed a new contract extension at SuperSport United.

Although Sekhukhune were poised to hand the coaching reins to Komphela, the management made an unexpected choice of intensifying negotiations with Ramoreboli instead, who guided Galaxy to two consecutive Botswana Premier League titles.

However, despite progressive talks with the Babina Noko hierarchy, the two parties had a disagreement over small details in the contract.

Word reaching this website is that the Free State native was turned off by the club not agreeing to give him full control over the composition of the technical team and player movements, which he felt was unfair, considering the targets which were stipulated that he had to achieve, including making it into the top four.

"What made the deal not to happen is that Sekhukhune could not agree to giving Ramoreboli carte blanche over the team," a source close to the dealings at the club told KickOff.

"He [Ramoreboli] felt that was unfair, given the targets which were set by the club in the contract for him to achieve.

"So in the end, he decided that he would not risk tarnishing his CV, because for him to achieve those high results, he needs to have control over the technical team and signings, who comes and who goes," the source added.

Sekhukhune finished the 2023/24 season in fourth place in the DStv Premiership standings, largely achieved under Seema, who was suspended with two games to go.
