MLS side announce ex-Chiefs star's departure

Major League Soccer side St Louis City have confirmed the departure of head coach Bradley Carnell following their poor campaign so far.

City currently find themselves in 12th position in the Western Conference standings, having registered three wins all season.

Sunday's loss to Vancouver proved to be the final straw, with the team announcing Carnell's departure on Monday.

Carnell guided City to the Western Conference title during their debut campaign in the MLS, but they were unable to replicate that form this term.

CITY SC Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel felt the recent results has prompted the club to make a coaching change.

"Given Bradley's many contributions to the club, this was not an easy decision," Pfannenstiel said, as per the club's website.

"Unfortunately, based on our Year 2 results to date, we believe a coaching change is in the best interest of the club as we regroup and look to improve both our performance and our results."
