Transfer decision on Soweto giants-linked star 'confirmed'

The decision an African star, who has been linked with a move to both Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, has taken regarding his future has now reportedly been confirmed.

Stephane Aziz Ki, 28, is said to have attracted the interest of South African giants Pirates, Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, but is now said to have committed his future to the Tanzanian club.

There has been considerable speculation surrounding the player's future, especially as his contract with his current side expired at the end of June.

The Burkina Faso international's agent Zambro Traore, however, has confirmed that the attacking midfielder will sign a new contract with the Tanzanian Premier League outfit, according to GOAL.

This is believed to be a big blow for the aforementioned DStv Premiership sides who were said to be interested in securing his services.

Their interest in Aziz Ki is understood to have been sparked by an exceptional 2023/24 campaign in which he scored 21 goals to win the domestic Golden Boot and help his side win the league with a convincing 80 points, 11 points clear of second- and third-placed Azam FC and Simba SC, who both accumulated 69 points.

The former ASEC Mimosas star also amassed two goals and two assists in 12 2023/24 CAF Champions League appearances, helping his team to the quarter-final stage of the competition, where they were knocked out by Downs.

He is also believed to have been tracked by a number of north African giants, including Wydad Casablanca, Raja Club Athletic, FAR Rabat and RS Berkane.

Aziz Ki is expected to make a trip to South Africa before the new campaign begins, though, with Yanga due to face Chiefs in a pre-season friendly encounter.
