The hosts went on to enjoy an incredible campaign that saw them win the Tanzanian premier league title with an eleven-point gap on second-placed Azam.
Meanwhile, Chiefs' poor pre-season would later prove to have been a precursor to what would be a disastrous campaign that saw them sack head coach Molefi Ntseki nearly halfway through the season and suffer even more under caretaker Cavin Johnson. The result was an unprecedented 10thspot finish on the DStv Premiership table.

However, this time around Amakhosi supporters have reason to be confident as the side will be led by a man who led Yanga to back-to-back domestic trebles in Nassredine Nabi. The Tunisian-Belgian mentor also guided Yanga to the final of the 22/23 CAF Confederations Cup.
In addition to Chiefs taking on Yanga in Bloem, Amakhosi's legends, including Willard Katsande who was also at the press conference, will take on Bloemfontein Celtics legends.
