OFFICIAL: Man Utd star says goodbye to Red Devils

A Manchester United star has now officially waved goodbye to the club, closing the curtains on his career at Old Trafford.

After joining the side in 2020, midfielder Donny van de Beek has now announced that his time at the Red Devils has officially come to an end.

The 27-year-old arrived from Ajax Amsterdam but after what is considered to have been an underwhelming spell in Manchester, the Dutchman said that the city will always have a special place in his heart.

"Dear Manchester United family. Today is a memorable day as my adventure at the club comes to an end," he wrote on Instagram.

"I want to thank you all for your support throughout the years. From the moment we arrived at Manchester United, we felt extremely welcome and we are grateful for that.

"Thank you to everyone at the club for making us feel at home.

"A special thanks to all the fans that made these years unforgettable. Besides the football, the birth of our two children here ensures that Manchester will always have a special place in our hearts.

"Good luck to everybody, we'll meet again."

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Van de Beek is set to complete a move to Girona.

It is believed that the LALIGA side are paying a fixed fee of less than €1 million (around R19 million) to secure his services.

However, it is also claimed that the add-ons both clubs have agreed to could see his price rise to €5 million (R97 million), with a sell-on clause also in place.

During his time at the Red Devils, the midfielder was loaned out on two occasions, first to Everton and then to Bundesliga club  Eintracht Frankfurt.

His time away from the club, however, was seemingly not enough to convince the United hierarchy and management to retain his services.
