Arubi's SuperSport waiting game...

SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt is still toying with the idea of whether or not to offer veteran goalkeeper Washington Arubi a new deal at the club.

The 38-year-old former Zimbabwean international has been a free agent since the expiry of his contract at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Last term, Arubi made only seven appearances in all competitions for the Tshwane side.

Matsatsantsa currently only have 23-year-old Samukelo Xulu as their goalkeeper.

Hence, the club is looking to add to their last line of defence, with Angolan national team goalkeeper Neblu as well as former Moroka Swallows second choice Thakasani Mbanjwa on trial.

SuperSport are is still waiting for Mamelodi Sundowns to decide on Bafana Bafana net minder Richard Goss.

The Brazilians already have a competitive goalkeeping department with Ronwen Williams, Denis Onyango, Reyaad Pieterse and Sanele Tshabalala. 

Goss spent the last season on loan at United, where he enjoyed game-time.

Whispers are that SuperSport are looking to have the former Ajax Cape Town man on another loan deal next season.

In the midst of all of this, Arubi is playing a waiting game, with the club expected to decide on him soon.

"Arubi continues to train with the club. He hopes to get at least one more last season. At this point, he is with the club, but still not signed," a source revealed to KickOff.
