Billiat continues post-Chiefs revival

With eight goals under his name, former Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs star man Khama Billiat is gradually proving that class is permanent at new club Yadah FC.

Billiat was the hero once more when The Miracle Boys collected a 2-0 victory over Bikita Minerals on Saturday at Heart Stadium.

'Gaucho', as he is affectionately known, broke the deadlock in the 67th minute, before Ndereki put the visitors to the sword in the 89th minute.

The win takes Yadah up to the 12th spot on the Castle Lager Premiership table and is their second from their last five matches.

For the first time this season, Yadah are out of the relegation zone as they sit three points above TelOne, who occupy 15th place.

For Billiat, the goal was the eighth of the campaign and the second in two consecutive games in a season that is proving to be a stark reminder of his quality.

The 33-year-old came under fire earlier on, though, as he struggled to adjust to his new surroundings following his less-than-ceremonious exit from Chiefs in August 2023.

In fact, Billiat was unable to register either a goal or an assist in the first four league games of the campaign, prompting questions about the 2016 PSL Footballer of the Season's ability.

However, he has turned that narrative full circle, contributing eight goals and five assists from 13 matches for Yadah, the highest direct goal contribution by any player in the league and joint-top scorer with CAPS United's William Manondo.

Billiat will hope to have his scoring boots on when Yadah take on Dynamos on Thursday at Rufaro Stadium.
