Loan for Zwane 'would be the right decision by Chiefs'

Kaizer Chiefs legend Zebulon Nhlapo says a loan move will do more good than harm for Samkelo Zwane, who has had to watch from the bench and sometimes the stands as other youngsters got more game-time last season.

Speaking on SABC on Monday, without revealing names, club legend Doctor Khumalo revealed that about six players will be released on loan by the club.

New head coach Nasreddine Nabi is looking to work with a manageable squad.

Nhlapo, who is a big fan of the young midfielder, says he'd support the club's decision if the bulky player was to be loaned out.

"Loans usually do wonders for players, that's how the club used to get the best out of the likes of Fani Madida," notes Nhlapo.

"A loan move will allow Samkelo to get the game-time he needs to develop. He has just been unfortunate, but he is a complete player.

"There is nothing wrong with accepting a loan move, it is something that is done abroad. If that happens, it would be the right decision by Chiefs," he continues.

Nhlapo admits to being baffled as to why the 22-year-old has not gotten more minutes on the field, with the team having struggled for results last season, eventually ending up in 10th place in the standings.

"I don't know why coaches are not using him because he is a good player that boy.

"So, my advice to both the club and the player is to consider a loan move.

"You cannot sell a young player, you just need to point him in the right direction and help him wherever he might be lacking.

"No youngster is perfect at the beginning of his career, we were also struggling a bit when we started.

"You only gain confidence though playing enough games, so if Samkelo is on that list of those six players, this will do him more good than bad."
