Sloppy Chiefs humbled by Tanzanian giants

Kaizer Chiefs continued their preparations for the new campaign with a 4-0 loss to Tanzanian side Young Africans on Sunday afternoon.

The Amakhosi had new signings Fabrice Ntwari and Rushwin Dortley on the substitutes bench, and started youngsters Samkelo Zwane, Mduduzi Shabalala, Nkosana Mbuthu and Mfundo Vilakazi.

Chiefs enjoyed a decent start, dishing out long passes seemingly comfortable though lacked the efficacy in the final third as Yanga covered all spaces in defence.

The Tanzanian champions weren't out of shape and hit the front when Prince Dube looped a loose ball over the defence to get in-behind and fired in first-time.

A lot of the momentum in the forward areas remained with the Tanzanian giants, as the Glamour Boys enjoyed little penetration nor shots on target.

Yanga added a second on the stroke of halftime after Mbuthu lost possession in a danger area and saw Stephane Aziz Ki given the easiest of finishes.

The situation for the Amakhosi didn't improve following the break, but were cut open again when a certain Clement Mzize went on the overlap and finished off a one-touch move.

Young Africans pounced again just inside the midway stages of the half after Aziz Ki capitalised on a defensive error from Zwane and applied a cool finish into the top corner.

Fresh faces from the Soweto giants came as a way to effect changes, with Wandile Duba, Pule Mmodi, Christian Saile Basomboli introduced.

Yanga still enjoyed the control and could've made it five through a curling free-kick towards the near post by AzIz Ki, but he hit the upright.

The Amakhosi never mastered a response of any sort as the clock ticked by and succumbed to a heavy defeat against the Tanzanian champions.
