African star: Mourinho is scary but...

An African star has now opened up on working with manager Jose Mourinho, revealing that playing under him can be "scary".

Nigeria international Bright Osayi-Samuel joined Fenerbahce from English side Queens Park Rangers in January 2021, and has since grown to become an integral member of the Turkish outfit.

With 140 appearances under his belt for the Super Lig side, the right-back is currently working under the club's latest boss Mourinho as the team prepares for the upcoming season.

The Portuguese tactician was unveiled as Fenerbahce's newest manager in June, and has seen the team thus far participate in five friendly matches and one official encounter, allowing him to gauge the levels of his squad.

Last week, the coach oversaw his first competitive game in charge of Fener, when his team competed in a qualifier for the upcoming UEFA Champions League campaign.

The 61-year-old's side beat Swiss outfit FC Lugano 4-3, giving the Yellow Canaries a one-goal advantage heading into the second leg that is scheduled to be played on Tuesday night.

While he has now had the opportunity to assess his players, they have also been able to gain an insight as to what to expect from their new manager for the rest of the season.

Osayi-Samuel has revealed the effect that working under the former Real Madrid boss has had on him personally.

"Mourinho is scary, but also very nice," the 26-year-old told Fanatik, per Soccernet.ng.

"It is a great honour to work with him.

"I want to learn the history of the players. He instils self-confidence in the player.

"I think I will learn a lot while working with him this year."

Osayi-Samuel and the rest of the side will be hoping the Portuguese can lead them to a Super Lig title in the 24/25 campaign after falling short last season, finishing three points behind eventual league winners and long-time bitter rivals Galatasaray.
