Motaung Jr: Why we signed Sirino

Kaizer Chiefs' Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr has shed some light on the Soweto giants' reasons for signing former Mamelodi Sundowns star man Gaston Sirino.

The Uruguayan international has become the fourth signing for Amakhosi in a deal that was concluded in a  matter of days and officially announced by the club on Saturday.

Sirino is understood to have penned a two-year deal with Chiefs

However, at 34, and having been released by Sundowns, some have asked why the Naturena-based side were eager to sign the skilful attacker.

Speaking to the club's media, Motaung Jr explained that Sirino's vast experience would be useful in an otherwise young Chiefs squad.

"We have decided to add some experience to our team by bringing in Sirino," Motaung Jr revealed.

"We know his quality and we believe he will help us this coming season and looking forward to him sharing his experience with our younger players.

"Gaston's ability to unlock a tight defence with his guile and craft will add an extra dimension to the team's creativity and his attributes fit with our idea of how we want to play."

Chiefs are believed to be preparing for a friendly match against Botswana's Township Rollers, with their Betway Premiership campaign only set to kick off in mid-September.
