A Liverpool legend, who also played in the PSL, has slammed the appointment of the new Zimbabwe national team coach, insisting he should have been given the role instead.
The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) announced former SAFA education officer Michael Nees as their new head coach last week, replacing interim coach Jairos Tapera.

Nees penned a two-year contract, beating other candidates, including Gerard Nus, Marcio Maximo Barcellos, Antoine Hey, and Winfried Schafer, to the position, as per Soccer24.
However, it has since emerged that former Liverpool goalkeeper Bruce Grobbelaar also applied for the role, and the retired Zimbabwean has now expressed his frustration over the snub.
"Look man, I was the best person to take charge of the Warriors right now because this is my country, and everything I do comes from the bottom of my heart, and the desire to take my country forward," he told Manica Post.

"These foreign coaches are in it for money! After two years, they walk away with cash, and never bother to revise their work.
"Lincoln Mutasa [ZIFA Normalisation Committee chairman] is a gentleman, but his hands are tied. There are so many cooks in the kitchen and they confuse him.
"I still believe they will allow him to run the show, and appoint me instead of foreign coaches.
"I also met Minister Coventry, and I laid out my ambition to coach Zimbabwe."
Notably, though, Grobbelaar has never served as a national team head coach, with his last coaching job coming between 2014 and 2018, when he as a goalkeeping coach for Ottawa Fury FC in Canada, according to Transfermarkt.
