Casric Stars send warning to MFC peers

With the PSL releasing the list of Motsepe Foundation Championship fixtures for the 2024/25 season, Casric Stars boss Bucs Mthombeni has declared his side ready to launch an onslaught for promotion.

Casric are set to kickstart the campaign with a fixture against Durban City (formerly Maritzburg United) at the Chatsworth Stadium next Friday, on August 23.

According to the fixture released by the PSL, Black Leopards will visit newcomers Highbury at the Isaac Wolfson Stadium on the same day.

Casric's next encounter will be against Highbury at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium in Mpumalanga on August 30.

The KwaMhlanga side has already roped in seasoned football official Peter Koutroulis as part of their management team, while former University of Pretoria coach Sly Mosala has joined as assistant coach.

Mthombeni also announced that Thabang Rakwena and Thabang Semeche have returned to the team on loan from TS Galaxy.

"We are ready for the new season. We have done all the preparations for the league. We have reinforced all departments, including our technical team. Sundra (Govinder) is a highly qualified coach. We have Peter Koutroulis, who brings a wealth of experience to the team. Sly has also joined as an assistant coach," Mthombeni tells KickOff.

"We have also signed a few players, including Yagan Sasman,"

Casric finished last season in seventh spot on the standings, just four points shy of a play-offs spot, and though a fairly young team in the division having bought the status of Free State Stars a couple of seasons ago, will fancy their chances this time around.
