Pienaar flies SA flag high in overseas coaching role

Former Premier League star Steven Pienaar is seemingly focusing his energies of rearing the next generation of stars.

The South African achieved much during his time as a player, representing a host of top European clubs and winning the Eredivisie on two occasions during his time at Ajax Amsterdam.

Now, however, he seems to be occupying himself by spending time with his family, travelling, as well as passing on all of his knowledge that stems from a successful career onto the next generation of talent.

Apart from being an international ambassador for Premier League side Everton, the 42-year-old is a youth coach at United Arab Emirates outfit Sharjah FC.

In his latest social media post, the South African shared images of himself instructing and guiding the young minds at the UAE Pro League club, with the former Tottenham Hotspur looking really focused on getting his messages across.

Benni McCarthy, who recently parted ways with Manchester United after helping the side win two trophies in two seasons at the club,  took to the comment section of the post to express how proud he was of his compatriot.

"Aww Coach Schillo hard at work, love it my brother. Hope you and the family are good," the former Bafana Bafana star wrote.

Pienaar had previously revealed that the former Blackburn Rovers striker encouraged him to get his coaching license.

"From the dusty streets to big stadium; [I'm] proud of you bro. Thanks for all the advice you gave me over the years and encouraging me to take my coaching licenses," he had previously written on Instagram.
