Supporters Forum: Gallants accused of identity theft

In this edition of Supporters Forum, KickOff speaks to Bloemfontein Celtic supporter Sibusiso Mateza who has now switched his allegiance to Marumo Gallants.

Gallant's owner Abram Sello is under attack from some Celtic supporters who are not happy with his club's new nickname, "Siwelele Sa Marumo," a decision that has now divided the Celtic fans.

Some Celtic supporters are now accusing Sello and his club of identity theft as the "real Siwelele" exists somewhere in the lower divisions.

Something Mateza believes should not be happening.

"I'm happy because this is going to boost our economy and take our kids away from the streets because currently there are too many gangsters in the area, so our kids will dream about playing professional football again," Mateza tells KickOff.

"On our Bloemfontein Celtic page, there are those who are against the idea of calling Marumo Gallants Siwelele Sa Marumo.

"They are telling us Marumo will never be Bloemfontein Celtic. Yes, it cannot be, but let's not lose hope, this is our new baby; everything will be fine once Max Tshabalala agrees to sell the Celtic certificate to Marumo Gallants. We will have Bloemfontein Celtic again as the conversation is still ongoing.

"I feel like people is pulling us apart. People are still not happy with Abram Sello for not keeping his promises last season.

"The name Siwelele doesn't belong to Max Tshabalala, he doesn't even know where it comes from. It belongs to the supporters, it's not owned by the club.

"We came up with that name, hence we are now calling ourselves Siwelele Sa Marumo.

"We asked the Marumo Gallants to wear green colours because, as supporters, we will be wearing Bloemfontein Celtic supporters. For us to join them 100% they must first meet our demands. And only then we will go all out to buy their merchandise.

"The Celtic that is currently campaigning in the lower divisions is carrying a lot of problems, the owner [Max Tshabalala] wanted to sell the name Bloemfontein Celtic to Bra Abram Sello, but he wanted money and at the same time demanded shares in the team.

"I can't give you R10 million, and you still expect 10% shares, it can't be like that.

"But besides all that, I still believe and hope Celtic will one day bounce back, Max Tshabalala must just sell Celtic, as supporters, we want the new owner and not him. He lies too much, that guy.

"His Celtic in the ABC Motsepe League only has two supporters, and as Siwelele Sa Marumo, we are going to support our club, singing our Celtic songs for Marumo, while Max Tshabalala is sitting with our club name."
